Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Green Valley Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is an extension of a bi-annual collection program that was initiated and funded by Pima County for over 10 years in Green Valley.  Since 2014 when funding for the County program lapsed, the GVC Foundation has taken on the sole responsibility for holding these collection events, either annually or bi-annually (with the Town of Sahuarita).  Although there are drop off centers for hazardous materials located in Tucson, and some items can be taken to the County landfill in Sahuarita, there is strong support for this program from elderly residents who may not be able to travel outside of the community, and from those residents who understand that collection events help overcome complacency and unwelcome behavioral tendencies causing unsightly trash and pollution of the environment.
