Avenue of Flags

The Avenue of the Flags is supported by the GVC Foundation.  The Avenue of the Flags was initially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) but merged with the GVC Foundation when its status lapsed.  It is now managed by the Avenue of Flags Subcommittee under the GVC Community Services Committee.  The Subcommittee, with the assistance of many civic and veterans’ organizations, ensures that flags are displayed along La Cañada Drive, between Continental Road and Esperanza Boulevard, during patriotic holidays.  The purpose of flying the flags is to foster and perpetuate respect for the flag of the United States of America and to honor all members of the Armed Forces both past and present, living and deceased.  The flags are raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset or at 4:00 PM on the designated holiday.
