Chefs For Kids

Nutrition education is at our core. Chefs for Kids alleviate malnutrition and hunger in children through education and awareness. For more than 30 years, we have been the only Clark County School District-sanctioned nutrition education program within Title I schools - face-to-face with more than 200,000 students. We partner with nutrition educators, local chefs, and companies to deliver nutrition education initiatives that directly impact a child's understanding of food. Working together, we provide a Healthy Eating Education Program that not only feeds kids but provides them with the nutrition education building blocks for living a healthier lifestyle. We focus on three initiatives in our Healthy Eating Education Program:Nutrition Education - Each month teachers visit third-grade classrooms at Title I schools for 40 minutes of instruction in healthful nutrition practices based on the most current research, and the importance of physical activity.Cookin' Up Breakfast - Every year each of the Title I schools that receive our Nutrition Education also receives one free healthy breakfast for the entire student body and faculty, prepared by local chefs.Holiday Helpings - During the school holiday breaks we supply at-risk families in need of food with a gift card, nutrition information provided in our classrooms, and a bag of fresh produce. We need a Healthy Eating HERO like you to help us continue our important work. We have several partnership opportunities available. Please contact us at donations@chefsforkids.org to learn more about how we can work together.

Children's Advocacy Alliance

CAA believes that by providing the right services at the right time, vulnerable families can be supported, child abuse and neglect can be prevented, and the effects of trauma and harm can be reduced.CAA advocates for a paradigm shift in public perception: from saving the child to save the family. This approach emphasizes the critical need to provide help and services at the beginning of the cycle through preventive steps and measures, rather than at the end of the cycle, most often associated with children entering the foster care system.Annette Dawson Owens is a lifelong education advocate who believes in equity and access to an excellent education for all students. She has worked in both district and charter schools and has studied high-performing schools and leaders across the country. She has seen firsthand, quality outcomes that are possible with effective school design. Annette serves on many communities and education advisory boards. Annette attended K-12 in the Clark County School District and went on to earn an undergraduate degree in Zoology, a Masters in Education from UNLV, and a Masters in Administration from Sierra Nevada College. She completed Georgetown's Executive Leadership through the Public Education Foundation and is grateful to be a current Jameson Fellow. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the great outdoors. Annette looks forward to working together with the community and improving outcomes for all students and families in the great state of Nevada.

Club Christ

Since 2004, Club Christ's tutoring and mentoring programs have impacted the lives of thousands of Las Vegas youth. We strive to meet the unique needs of our students through innovative assessments and personal learning plans. Elementary students enrolled in our weekly tutoring program typically improve one-two grade level per year in their reading ability. With fun and engaging Bible lessons, every child develops a Biblical worldview and has the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with God.Uniquely based out of under-resourced apartment complexes, our programs meet the needs of students by providing quality mentoring and academic support right where they live. We strive to empower students to make a lasting impact in their communities and to equip the next generation of young leaders.
