Lawrence Brothers, Inc.

Lawrence Brothers, Inc. Lawrence Brothers, Inc., a testament to resilience and innovation in Bluefield, Virginia. What began humbly in 1974 as Lawrence Brothers Welding in a modest three-car garage, founded by brothers Jim and Dale Lawrence, has evolved into a thriving enterprise spanning over four decades of growth and transformation. Originally focused on crafting mine battery trays for Exide Battery (now EnerSys) and later Gould Battery, the company quickly outgrew its beginnings, prompting the purchase of land and construction of a 10,500 square foot facility within just two years. This early expansion set the stage for Lawrence Brothers' trajectory towards excellence in metal fabrication. Today, under the strategic leadership of husband and wife team Mark and Amalia Lawrence, Lawrence Brothers, Inc. has flourished into an expansive operation encompassing more than 80,000 square feet and employing over 40 dedicated professionals. Mark Lawrence, deeply rooted in the company since his youth, has brought invaluable experience from his journey through various roles on the shop floor. Amalia Basconi Lawrence, with her family's heritage steeped in the Appalachian coal mining tradition, brings a profound connection to the region's industrious spirit. Building on a legacy of continuous investment in advanced fabrication technologies and facility expansions, Lawrence Brothers, Inc. remains a leader in the battery tray industry. Today, under the ownership of Fernando Protti and Melanie Protti-Lawrence, the company has embraced diversification as a cornerstone of its strategy. Their vision and persistence have fostered new business relationships and expanded the company's portfolio to include motive power trays, ground support systems, and transformer components. Fernando and Melanie's leadership underscores Lawrence Brothers' commitment to innovation and sustainable growth. With a dedicated team and a rich history of craftsmanship, Lawrence Brothers, Inc. is poised to explore new horizons and expand its impact in the years ahead. We accumulate memories through smells and growing up in Appalachia, I was no stranger to the mountains and the natural woodsy scents that grew there. Reminiscing, I can smell the mountain air after a rainstorm and how the wet earth smelled musky and fresh. The lingering smell of pine as I watched the tall Table Mountain Pines swaying in the wind. The distinctive aroma of a coal fire vs. a wood fire and the scents were wafting in the breeze as you walk through a field of Goldenrod, White Violets, or mountain laurel. There are not many things that can come close to being in the mountains, and not much will prepare you for the breathtaking scents and sights you will experience in the forest; being here gives one a sense of calm, tranquility, and the feeling of being alive. In reminiscing, the most cloying scent was that of my Grandfather.
