Miniflex Microphones

Miniflex Microphones Discover Miniflex Microphones, the creative brainchild of Ken Donnell, a trailblazer renowned for his mastery in "close-mic" techniques for stringed musical instruments. With a rich background in music and a lineage steeped in musical tradition, Ken's journey led him to explore the art of placing miniature microphones directly onto or within instruments, redefining amplification and recording. As the originator of patents in this field, Ken spearheads research and development at our Plumas County, California headquarters. Ken's musical odyssey began with a childhood immersed in harmonies, thanks to his parents' roles as choir directors and his father's management of a local music store. His passion evolved through music education, professional performances, and ventures in lutherie and retail music. Inspired by the legendary Bill Collings, Ken's venture into guitar building flourished, culminating in MiniFlex Microphones' inception in 1988. Although faced with the setback of the Dixie Fire in 2021, Ken's tenacity prevailed, leading to the triumphant revival of the brand as the2Mic™. Presenting a new era of sound innovation, the2Mic™ showcases Ken's unwavering dedication and Miniflex Microphones' enduring legacy.

Ada's Place

Ada's Place Ada's Place in Quincy, California, is a unique and eco-friendly haven with a rich history and commitment to sustainability. The story began when Ada Miller, a pioneering soul, sold the property to the owners in 1995. Inspired by her adventurous spirit, they built their first eco-friendly motel cottage, Ada's Cottage, in her honor. This marked the beginning of their journey to create a place where history and environmental consciousness blend seamlessly. The acquisition of adjacent property led to the development of three more charming cottages—West Wing, Ruth's Garden, and Hop Sing's—all constructed with a passion for recycling and reusing materials. Preserving history and embracing eco-friendliness, Ada's Place stands as a true testament to their dedication. With salvaged materials like decorative roofing tin, unique cabinets, and beautiful old cedar, each cottage exudes warmth and character. Committed to sustainable practices, they installed solar panels on their house in 2009 and plan to extend this initiative to all the motel cottages. With a blend of cherished furnishings and a cozy atmosphere, Ada's Place offers a retreat where guests can experience genuine charm and a greener tomorrow.

Hollyhox Painting, Murals & Fine Art

Hollyhox Painting, Murals & Fine Art Welcome to the enchanting realm of Hollyhox Painting, Murals & Fine Art, where imagination meets canvas in a symphony of colors and creativity. I'm Tina, also known as Trixie Hollyhox, the passionate artist behind the brushstrokes that bring this whimsical world to life. Although my journey started in the realm of education, first as a first-grade teacher and later as a curriculum developer for an after-school art program, my artistic evolution took an unexpected turn during the spring of 2020. It was then that I rediscovered the profound impact of art, leading me to explore mural painting and delve into the vibrant landscapes of fine art. Beyond traditional classroom settings, my involvement with a community theater further fueled my artistic fire. Painting sets for the stage and collaborating with young performers on costumes, props, and set designs became a catalyst for my deepened connection with art. Now, Hollyhox Painting extends an invitation to share this passion with you. From mural painting services to fine art, commissioned pieces, pet portraits, acrylic painting lessons, and interactive paint sessions, we offer a diverse range of artistic experiences. Nestled in the scenic beauty of Plumas County, California, Hollyhox Painting operates from PO Box 1526, Quincy, CA 95971. Embracing the essence of my playful spirit, each creation reflects a whimsical perspective inspired by the wonders of nature and fantasy fiction. While some pieces may explore darker themes, a subtle touch of light or hope is woven into every stroke. Join us on this artistic journey, where every piece is a window into the joy, beauty, and delight that surrounds us, and let Hollyhox Painting be a source of inspiration and enchantment in your world.

dramaworks & West End Theatre

Earl Thompson and Edie O’Connor’s vision to elevate community theatre in Quincy began in 2000 with the founding of dramaworks, a non-profit organization. Dramaworks promotes the enjoyment of theatre arts, facilitates children’s and community theatre programs, and offers an educational path to reduce societal barriers and improve the lives of rural families and children. Once dramaworks was off the ground, Earl and Edie began to renovate the historic building in downtown Quincy. The West End Theatre opened its doors to the community in 2012. Our traditional black box theatre offers an intimate space and cutting-edge design for first-rate performances. It takes the passion and dedication of many to ensure community theatre thrives.
