Sandra Kurt is excited to blend her experience from private industry with public service and knowledge of County government to make the Clerk of Courts office work even better for Summit County residents.
Prior to becoming Clerk of Courts, Sandra served the citizens of Summit County as an At-Large Councilwoman on Summit County Council, a position she held since early 2011. She was twice elected unanimously by her colleagues to serve as Vice-President of the Council for the years 2014 and 2015. Sandra chaired the Public Works Committee and served as Vice-Chair of the Finance committee for her entire tenure on County Council. Prior to County Council, Sandra served on Akron City Council as the Ward 8 Councilperson.
However, Sandra is anything but a career politician. Entering politics less than a decade ago, she recently retired with 30 years of service at a global manufacturing company headquartered in Akron. Sandra's private sector experience ranged from project management to process improvement, developing and managing the corporate capital plan, and helping to develop an electronic solution for planning and executing plant projects with managing the associated capital expenditures.
Sandra graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. In June of 2015, she was awarded a certificate of completion for the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education.
Sandra volunteers her time to serve as a member of the Valor Home Advisory Council. Valor Home is a comprehensive homeless veteran program that provides transitional housing to veterans so they can contribute to the community.
Sandra is a member of the Sierra Club and a lifetime member of the NAACP. An avid bicyclist, Sandra rode over 100 miles in the Towpath Century Ride to raise money for the Ohio and Erie Canalway Towpath Trail in both 2013 and 2015. When not bicycling, she can often be found walking Addie, her Shih Tzu, in Summit County's gorgeous Metro Parks.

The Barberton Community Foundation was established in 1996 as a 509(a)(3) public charity as a way to strengthen the community through the continually giving power of an endowment. In November of 1996, the citizens of Barberton overwhelmingly supported turning an original $75 million in funds and securities from the sale of Barberton Citizen Hospital into a permanent endowment, allowing the funds to continue giving over time. Since its inception, the Barberton Community Foundation has awarded over 2,500 grants and scholarships totaling more than $78 million and invested over $12 million more to promote job creation, neighborhood improvements and educational opportunities within Barberton.
The Barberton Community Foundation (BCF) has been committed to improving the quality of life for Barberton residents since 1996, through the continual giving power of the original endowment and through funds established by donors with their hearts focused on Barberton.

Crossroads Home Decor
Crossroads has a strong meaning for us. As newlyweds, we joined a group at The Chapel called the Honeymooners. It was a group of about 20 couples, all newly married. After several years we were all starting to have kids and we needed a new name which better reflected our stage in life.
We came up with Crossroads, as most of us were in transitions and decision which would shape our futures. Little did we know how impactful that group would be. Barberton Area Community Ministries began in 1997 as a combined community ministry to assist low-income individuals in Barberton and Norton. Since then, BACM has grown to serve over 4,700 people a year, providing food assistance and referrals to other programs and services. One of Ohio's newest municipalities, the City of New Franklin (founded as Franklin Township in 1817), is located at the southern edge of Summit County, in Northeast Ohio. It is bounded to the north by Coventry Township, as well as Barberton and Norton; by Lawrence Township, Stark County, to the south; by Clinton, to the southwest; by Chippewa Township, Wayne County, to the west; and by Green, to the east.
The 2006 U. S. Census Bureaus Population Estimate placed the Citys population at approximately 15,013. The City is 26.6 square miles in area and its elevation is 1,093 feet. Compared to the rest of the country, New Franklins cost of living is 12.38% lower than the national average.
Three major state highways, State Routes 93, 236 and 619, traverse New Franklin, with easy access to State Route 21. The City is only twenty minutes from Akron, Canton and Massillon, and forty minutes from Cleveland. Because of its central location, New Franklin affords easy access to air transportation at both Akron-Canton Airport and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
New Franklin has a diverse blend of citizens, who live in various districts within the City. Residents have postal codes which include Akron 44319, Barberton 44203, Clinton 44216, Canal Fulton 44614 and Norton 44203; the four local school districts responsible for educating the Citys children are Manchester, Norton, Northwest, and Coventry; and, some residents choose to identify their hometown as either Manchester or Portage Lakes.
