Opportunities For Learning (OFL) is a FREE non-profit public charter school, serving students ages 14 and up who have fallen behind in school, are looking to get ahead and graduate early, or simply crave a non-traditional learning environment.
OFL was established in 1999 by a family genuinely and profoundly interested in the well-being of California young people. They saw potential that struggling students couldn’t see in themselves. For over 16 years, OFL and its founders have helped more than 150,000 students find their passion and equip themselves with the knowledge to pursue their dreams. OFL believes in fostering student dreams.
At OFL, inspiring students inspires us. We believe the student-teacher relationship is critical to a young person’s social, emotional, and academic success. Since 1989, the Irwindale Educational Foundation, an IRS 501(c)(3)-recognized charitable organization, has been granting scholarships to qualified Irwindale residents and businesses to provide them with opportunities for career development. The program offers limited financial assistance for college and vocational students and for continuing students making good academic progress.
Scholarship grants are available to current Irwindale residents and to employees of qualified Irwindale Chamber of Commerce members including their spouses and dependents. All applicants, to be considered for scholarships, must maintain a minimum 2.5 (cumulative) grade point average.
Since 2002, the Irwindale Educational Foundation has been able to provide over $500,000 in scholarships to deserving students in the Irwindale community.

Hot sauce creator, David Tran, began his chili-making mastery in 1975 in Vietnam. During his humble beginnings, the unsurpassable genius produced his first hot sauce called Pepper Sa-te. He filled his Sa-te sauce in recycled glass baby food jars that then were sold and delivered by family members via bicycle. In 1979, his astounding voyage began by departing communist Vietnam on a Taiwanese freighter that was registered in Panama, named Huey Fong. Later that name became the inspiration namesake of his beloved company, Huy Fong Foods.
After the United States accepted Tran as a refugee when no other country would, he started right away doing what he did best -- making hot sauce. So in 1980, he started his chili legacy in a 5,000 sq foot building nestled near Chinatown in Los Angeles. His creations included his Pepper Sate Sauce, Sambal Oelek, Chili Garlic, Sambal Badjak, and Sriracha Hot Sauce.
He was quite content just to sell whatever he could produce each day and deliver them to Asian restaurants and markets in his blue Chevy van - often driving as far as San Francisco and even San Diego. Believe it or not, Tran actually hand-painted his first hot sauce logos onto that blue Chevy van himself! At that time, little did Tran realize his delectable sauces, particularly the iconic Sriracha Hot Sauce, made from just fresh jalapeno chili peppers, would spread like HOT wildfire...

Haynes Family of Programs
The center serves as many as seventy-two boys in its residential treatment program, formerly known as LeRoy Boys' Home. Currently, the center operates a non-public school, foster family agency, mental health outreach, and day treatment programs.
The entire facility serves 350 to 400 children annually.

I fell in love with cigars in the late '80s. In 1996 I decided to turn my profession of computer programming and my passion for cigars into a garage business venture. I built a walk-in humidor, registered a domain name, built a Web site, wrote my own shopping cart program, got all the licenses, and started an online cigar outfit. The Web site - you guessed it - was Robusto.com.
The business went well right off the bat, due mostly to the high demand for cigars during that period. However, the business had its share of challenges also. For me, the most important element that was missing from the whole picture was the human component, the camaraderie, the friendships that are a natural consequence of cigar smokers coming together.
