From one small store with 60 seats and a walk-up to-go window. Las Palapas has been serving San Antonio families for over 40 years. Las Palapas was created in 1981 and is San Antonio born and raised! Las Palapas has been serving traditional award-winning dishes and fan favorites in our full-service dining rooms and our drive-thru‘s with fast and friendly service. 

Embracing Change

The brand continues to grow throughout Texas with Wayne Detmar’s new majority ownership and as the CEO. Las Palapas is slowly making itself known with more and more opportunities throughout the Great State of Texas. The LP footprint has grown to new stores in New Braunfels, College Station, the DFW area, and Boerne, Texas along with 5 more planned for San Antonio.

Wayne Detmar was a Las Palapas franchise owner and operator 10 years before He moved into the majority of ownership in February of 2O20. Wayne’s leadership brings new energy to the brand to move it in new directions in marketing, operations and with a commitment to the community supporting the San Antonio stock show and rodeo, San Antonio fiesta, The 100 Club, The miracle league, Christy’s Hope, Wreathacross America, and various other charities.
