Carroll County Trust Company
Established in 1919, Carroll County Trust Company is a community bank deeply rooted in Carrollton, Missouri. Founded by local farmers and businessmen, including visionaries like R.H. Monier and C.G. Bowers, our institution was created to provide financial services to public stockholders. Over the years, we've weathered challenges, expanded strategically, and remained dedicated to serving the evolving needs of our community.
Our journey includes significant milestones, such as the historic hiring of Alma Scharfenberg as the first female employee in 1920 the acquisitions of The Banking House of Wilcoxson and Co. in 1934, and The Carroll Exchange Bank in 1937 during The Great Depression. Recognizing the need for growth and accessibility, Carroll County Trust Company established Carroll County Bancshares in 1986. Subsequent expansions, including the acquisition of Farmers & Merchants Bank of Hale in 2008 and the opening of a third branch on Highway 65 in 2022, exemplify our commitment to providing comprehensive banking services with a focus on community well-being.
Throughout our rich history, our leadership, from C.G. Bowers to Benjamin G. Polen, has upheld a tradition of integrity, innovation, and customer-centric service. We are particularly proud to note the continuation of community service in our leadership, exemplified by board member Keith Long, the great-grandson of L.G. Clark, an original Vice-President of Carroll County Trust Company.
