We recognize the signs of trauma in individuals seeking services and therefore use the universal precautions approach. We are committed to safety and healing through resistance to the re-traumatization of participants.
We have adopted the concept and framework for trauma-informed treatment as defined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
"Individual trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that are experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life-threatening and that has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual being." (SAMHSA, 2014)
We use inclusive trauma-specific interventions which are designed to work alongside each participant, providing a calming and accepting environment. We promote resilience and recovery for individuals and families impacted by trauma and addiction.
