The Black Powder Cartridge discipline at Douglas Ridge Rifle Club welcomes all buffalo hunting era black powder rifles or replicas, including Sharps, rolling blocks, hi walls, and lever actions, among others. Using typical calibers of .375 and up with cast lead bullets and black powder, shooters enjoy friendly matches and shooting at gong-type targets and a full-size steel buffalo. Ranges vary from 300 to 1,000 yards, with sessions held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 12:00 until legal sunset. While there are currently no NRA-sanctioned shoots, members interested in this discipline are encouraged to contact Dave Kendall via email for more information.
