Mercy Gardens enhances nutrition in Decatur by providing fresh, local, nutrient-dense produce to the community. Spanning 1.25 acres between the Old King’s Orchard neighborhood and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, our gardens supply vegetables to the Good Samaritan Inn’s Noon Meal Program and partner food pantries, including Northeast Community Fund, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, and Crossing Healthcare. Additionally, Mercy Gardens functions as a local farmer, selling produce at the farmer’s market, growing and selling Mercy Mums and pumpkins, and planning an urban aggregation site to support local agriculture on 5-7 acres in the Old King’s Orchard neighborhood.
