The Almanor Foundation has established a Housing Council in response to the local housing crisis exacerbated by the 2021 Dixie Fire disaster. This council, consisting of public and private stakeholders, non-voting government representatives, and local Mountain Maidu tribal groups, aims to develop attainable workforce housing in Plumas County, California. Areas such as Indian Valley, Canyon Dam, Chester, and Quincy are prioritized. The council meets monthly to devise community-focused, consortium-driven strategies for increasing housing availability. Initial planning includes case and feasibility studies by LMNOP Design Inc., funded by various sources including The Almanor Foundation's Wildfire Fund. For further details, contact Alisha Wilson, Community Services Coordinator at awilson@almanorfoundation.org.
