Immanuel Lutheran Church
In the early 1900s, a small group envisioned a church in Sandy. With just $57 pledged and land donated by the local hotel owner, they built their first church building by Christmas Eve 1902. Immanuel Lutheran Church was formally established in 1907. Early pastors traveled by foot to preach in surrounding areas.
A school was founded in 1904, initially within the church, and a dedicated school building was built in 1912.
The church community grew and a new church building was constructed on Pleasant Street in 1956 thanks to the combined efforts of congregation members and the wider community. Immanuel Lutheran Church celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2002 and continues to grow, adding a new building addition in 2008.
