Willcott Brewing Company
Willcott Brewing Company was founded by Sean Willcott, who discovered his passion for brewing beer after receiving a Mr. Beer Kit as a Christmas gift in 2012. His first experience brewing in his garage ignited a love for the science and art of beer making, leading him to pursue his dream of opening his own brewery.
After spending three years as a corporate engineer at Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, Sean returned to Holton to establish his brewery. In 2015, he and his wife Jennifer purchased an old building off the downtown square in Holton that needed extensive repairs. Through dedication and hard work, Sean transformed the building into the thriving brewery it is today, becoming a staple landmark within the Holton community.
Throughout the construction process, friends and family lent their support to help bring Sean's vision to life. Special thanks were extended to Terry Lierz for his invaluable assistance.
In November 2020, Jackson County Kansas voted to repeal liquor by the drink regulations, granting Willcott Brewing Company the ability to sell their beer for on-premise consumption without requiring food sales. This pivotal moment allowed them to expand their operations by purchasing an adjacent building and beginning renovations for a future taproom.
The culmination of these efforts led to the grand opening of their Holton location during the last weekend of October 2021. The new taproom provides a welcoming space for patrons to enjoy Willcott Brewing Company's handcrafted beers while further contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Holton.
