Tasting Room Associate Job Description

 

We are seeking extraordinary, enthusiastic Tasting Room Associates to join our Tightrope Winery team. Tightrope Winery is a small, family-owned, sustainable winery on the Naramata Bench. A true labour of love for owners Graham (viticulturist) and Lyndsay O’Rourke (winemaker) we were the first Certified Sustainable Winery & Vineyard in BC. Our wines capture the soul of Naramata - the personality, character, culture, and fruit of ‘the Bench’. 

 

The role of a Tasting Room Associate is varied, and no two days will be the same! From working at the wine tasting bar, organizing, and leading experiences, creating memorable experiences, and having fun!

 

We are looking for teammates who have:

·       A passion for people, wine, storytelling, and sharing knowledge

·       Exceptional communication skills with the ability to multi-task

·       Provide best-in-class service for guests, with a ‘YES’ attitude

·       A team player, who thrives under pressure & is always willing to help

 

Responsibilities:

·       Welcoming guests warmly & enthusiastically to Tightrope Winery

·       Creating memorable guest experiences by hosting educational tastings of our wines and telling the story of Tightrope

·       Sharing wine and viticulture knowledge in a fun and engaging way

·       Promoting the Tightrope Wine Club, its features & benefits

·       Demonstrate service excellence to all visitors by managing customer inquiries in a positive, professional, and enthusiastic manner

·       Driving sales in the tasting room for wine, food, and retail items

·       Performing all selling and retail functions within the retail boutique

·       Handle retail transactions, including POS and accounting for daily sales

·       Maintain inventory, organization & cleanliness of the tasting room

·       Represent the winery at outside functions as needed

·       Light housekeeping duties in public areas, stocking shelves

 

Required qualifications:

·       Serving It Right Certificate – must be current

·       19+ years of age

·       Ability to lift 20 kgs & stand for long periods of time

·       Weekend & holiday availability

·       Passion for wine

·       WSET certification is an asset

·       Previous customer service experience is an asset
