Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and organized Coffee Shop Manager to oversee operations and manage staff at Coffee & Cream of South Milford. Coffee & Cream of South Milford is a faith-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that desires to see the love of Jesus spread in our cultural context. The Coffee Shop Manager is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service and efficient operations, as well as hiring, training, and supervising staff. Someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, has a passion for the industry, and is willing to engage in spiritual conversations. The Coffee Shop Manager creates the tone and personality of the store by being a proponent of training, customer service, product knowledge, encouraging safe work practices, and a demonstrated commitment to our mission statement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing day-to-day operations of the coffee shop

  • Preparing and serving beverages such as espresso-based drinks, tea, and other specialty drinks

·       Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches, and pastries

  • Hiring and onboarding new staff and baristas

  • Coordinate with vendors and order supplies and maintaining proper inventory

  • Coordinate schedule shifts and manage staff performance

  • Ensure excellent customer service

  • Ensure that all team members are committed to the highest level of service, and can execute that service on a consistent basis

  • Maintain accurate records of sales and inventory

  • Track financial records to increase profitability

  • Maintain a clean and inviting environment

  • Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and be able to engage in deeper/spiritual conversations

  • Ensure health and safety standards are met

  • Manage and resolve customer complaints and inquiries

  • Assist Executive Director in developing polices and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and safety

  • Assist Executive Director in using social media to promote and connect with customers and broader community

  • Build morale and team spirit by fostering a work environment where team members input is encouraged and valued

  • Ensure each team member has received proper training to perform as a barista or shift supervisor efficiently

  • Work with Executive Director to promote the mission of C&C including at times special projects and fundraising

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred

  • Proven experience as coffee shop manager and barista

  • Knowledge of the industry and coffee- making techniques

  • Strong customer service focus

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, manage and motivate a team

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations

  • Experience in cash handling and accounting procedures

  • Must pass background check and drug test

Compensation:

  • $35,000 - $40,000

  • Sick days 5

  • PTO 2 weeks
